Ted and Alexis Olsen chose The Jesus Storybook Bible to read to son, Leif (photo: John Zich, USA Today)
I was interviewed by USA Today and they are running an article about children's storybook Bibles. The Jesus Storybook Bible caught the attention of several of their sources (including Ted Olsen of Christianity Today, seen above reading from non other!) who liked it because of "its unique theological approach" and because it doesn't "hammer down the meaning of the Bible to one long lesson in obedience." Cathy Grossman spoke to me about the challenges of writing children's Bibles. It's an interesting article and you can read it here.

Congrats on the article! My family goes to the same church as the Olsens, and we've had several conversations about how great the Jesus Storybook Bible is.
Al thanks for stopping by. And that's so cool that you guys all go to the same church!
I love the photo of Ted and his wife reading to Leif.
The article is a great exposure for the book and I'm so grateful. And even though it rather clumsily links The Jesus Storybook Bible to other more fanciful books, like the book depicting a butterfly at the crucifixion--hey, USA TODAY? A photo? A quote? The book title clear and central? I've got not complaints! More people will hear about it and that's all that matters
Sally,
Al forwarded me the link to your blog. I can't thank you enough for writing the Jesus Storybook Bible. The first time I read it, I read the creation story out loud to our son and found myself weeping. Other stories have made me laugh in delight. Leif clearly loves it as well and given the wear and tear we put on it, we'll probably be on our second copy before he can read it for himself.
You have given us a wonderful gift in your fresh and accurate retelling of the Story of God's love for us. I'm honored to lend my tot and the back of my head to letting people know about it.
Alexis Olsen
By the way, we spotted that you made the NYT Notable Books of 2007 last week--Congrats! We look forward to collecting your other books for Leif!
Hi Alexis:
It's so great to hear from you! thanks very much for stopping by my blog (and Al for forwarding).
It's really wonderful hear how you are enjoying the Jesus Storybook Bible. Such an encouragement to hear this. It's God's Story and what a blessing to be part of retelling it for children.
Thank you and Ted and Leif for your (big) part in getting the word out about the book--so it can get into more little (and not so little) hands! It's great to partner with you

I love the photo - that is great! I'm planning to ask our Border's to start carrying yours (if they have had it, it's sold out). I know the Bible Book store has had them too. It does make a wonderful gift.
Congrats on the article!
Hi Sennu!
thanks for asking Borders. you're a star.
Have a wonder-filled Christmas and hope to see you early in the new year with loads of snow...
: ] love to everyone!

Sally, thanks for your terrific book. How refreshing to see a children's Bible that puts Jesus (not ourselves) at the center. This week we're highlighting it as the Book of the Week on Of First Importance, because everyone needs a copy.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I'm so glad to hear from you. thanks for featuring JSBB on your blog as BOok of the week. that's fabulous!
: } and of course I totally agree-everyone does need a copy...
I just wanted to stop by and tell you that I really appreciate The Jesus Storybook Bible and have just posted a plug for it on my blog. Unfortunately my blog has a readership of only about 5 people, all of whom have probably already heard me rave about the book 100 times so you may not see a huge spike in your sales based on my plug :-) But nevertheless I really love it and my kids really love it too!
Barry, it's great to meet you. thanks for stopping by and commenting and for doing a blog. (I've posted a comment on yours too!)
I'm so grateful that I got to do this book--and so encouraged to hear how much you and your family are enjoying it.

Sally:
Thanks for writing the Storybook Bible!
I read it to my four year old son and sometimes can't get through the story without choking up. We're up to Jericho.
You should charge more - it's sui generis!
